Spotty penis

Question

On the underside of my penis I have quite a few spots. They have been there for at least 10 years, which is well before I became sexually active. The only problem I have with them is that they look really bad. Is there any way of removing them?

Answer

In order to find out what these spots are and what you could do about them, you would need to get some medical advice from your doctor (GP). If you had these spots before you had any form of sexual contact it would be extremely unlikely they would be due to a sexually transmitted infection (STI).

It is not uncommon to have harmless spots on the genitals. You may find that it's only you that finds them unsightly and someone else would barely notice them.

To find out if there's any way of getting rid of these spots, you can speak to a nurse via the fpa helpline on 0845 310 1334, or NHS Direct on 0845 46 47. You can also get medical advice from your nearest Brook centre, youth clinic, family planning clinic or your GP.
